Support Groups

The Lupus Foundation of Southern California (LFSC) offers free support groups in San Diego. We are working on opening new groups in more areas. If you are interested in a support group in your area, please contact the LFSC office at or 858-278-2788.

The process of adjusting to chronic illness is difficult and complex. The positive approach of a support group helps the participants overcome the feeling of helplessness and gives them confidence to take control of their lives.

The therapeutic potential for these informal discussions will be to encourage the expression of common problems, methods of coping with emotional and physical stress, family relationships, and guidelines for living a productive life without fear of being criticized. Occasionally, guest speakers provide additional information and offer a time for questions and answers.

Our support groups promote the sharing of feelings, experiences, and information. All lupus patients, their family, and friends are encouraged to attend. We do try to keep our meetings upbeat and positive!
